Facilities
Weber State’s Theatre Program is housed in the Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts. Hosting more than 200 events and 80,000 guests annually, the Browning Center serves as a cultural hub for northern Utah. In addition to its three primary performance venues, the building boasts an expansive costume shop, a dedicated acting studio with state-of-the-art features and more than 150,000 square feet of educational space.
Austad Auditorium
Seating an audience of 1,408, the Austad Auditorium is the crown jewel of Weber State’s performance venues. The auditorium features a digital line array sound system, full rep lighting plot, sound shell and has hosted performers of all genres, including Audra McDonald, Ballet West and Dance Theatre of Harlem.
Allred Theater
The Allred Theater seats 272 guests and hosts performances of all genres. In addition to a full digital sound system and full rep lighting plot, the theater accommodates a Marley Dance floor, acoustic sound shell and live orchestra pit, which enhance all theatre performances.
Eccles Theater
The Eccles Theater is the most intimate of the Browning Center’s performance spaces. Hosting up to 125 guests, the seats and stage can be configured in a variety of ways to work for any performance. The space has full LED lighting and can be furnished with a Marley dance floor.
91¶ÌÊÓƵ Acting Studio (BC230)
The 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Acting studio is designed for acting, singing and auditioning classes. Equipped with theater staging blocks, floor-to-ceiling mirrors and professional lighting instruments, students can embrace their creative processes and develop new skills.
Community Venues
Ogden’s many community venues offer Weber State students a variety of opportunities to engage in the area’s rich culture and art scene, including The Monarch, which is a reimagined 1920s industrial parking garage in downtown Ogden.
