Scholarships & Activity Waivers
Scholarships are awarded annually to honor student achievement, talent and commitment to academic studies. Additional scholarship information and requirements can be found on the financial aid and scholarships website.
- Theatre Activity Waiver
Requirements: Full-time students with minimum GPA of 2.5. Students must apply yearly.
This waiver is intended for students participating in theatre activities and will waive a portion of in-state tuition.
Application information for the next academic year will be announced soon. - Departmental Scholarships
Students must complete an application form for all departmental scholarships.
Fern Berglund Scholarship
Requirements: Scholarship awarded annually. No specific criteria.
Fern Berglund was an avid patron of the arts. She loved music, theater, and other performing arts. She spent her life serving others, as well as working as the private secretary to Secretary of State Cordell Hull in Washington D.C.
Sophie Wetherell Reed Memorial Scholarship
Requirements: Full-time student with a GPA of at least 3.0. Outstanding performer in one or more of the areas of performing arts.
Sophie Wetherell Reed was the premier dance teacher in Weber County for many years and taught hundreds of students. She also had a love for drama and music. Her daughter, Sophie Reed Richards, established the scholarship in memory of her mother.
Joseph and Ellen Eccles Scholarship
Requirements: Declared major in visual arts, performing arts, or literature and have a minimum GPA of 2.5
Anya Kenley Scholarship for the Arts
Requirements: Declared major in the department and must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
This award was established by Julie Kenley in remembrance of her daughter, Anya, who was 16 years old when she died of lymphoma. Anya was an accomplished dancer, musician and writer.
John and Telitha Lindquist Scholarship for Creative/Artistic Endeavors
Requirements: Scholarship available to students who demonstrate talent in arts or humanities at the high school or university levels and exhibit academic ability.
This scholarship is intended to enrich the social, cultural and artistic climate of the university by funding scholarships which support creative and artistic efforts by students.
Lujean Thompson Scholarship
Requirements: Declared major in the performing arts with a minimum GPA of 3.0. - Theatre Scholarships
M. Thatcher Allred Memorial Scholarship
Requirements: Declared major in theatre arts
Jim and Jerrilyn Grills Christian Scholarship
Requirements: Full or part-time student with a declared major in theatre arts or musical theatre and a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Dr. John M. Elzey Memorial Scholarship
Requirements: Declared major in theatre with minimum 3.0 GPA
Faculty Choice Theatre Scholarship
Declared major in Theatre Arts or Musical Theatre. Minimum 3.0 GPA. Full or part-time student
Alexander C. Morris Scholarship in Technical Theatre
Declared major in Theatre Arts or Theatre Arts Teaching with an emphasis in Design/Technical and/or Stage Management. Minimum overall GPA of 3.0. Full-time student.
Performing Arts Alumni & Friends Scholarship
Requirements: Declared major in the Performing Arts. Minimum 2.5 GPA. Full or part-time student.
Theatre Alumni & Friends Scholarship Fund
Requirements: Full or part-time student with declared major or minor in theatre and minimum 2.5 GPA.
Rell Thompson Scholarship for Technical Theater
Requirements: Declared major in theatre arts with an emphasis in technical/design and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Must be a member in good standing with USITT or comparable technical theatre association.
Marion C. Wakeling Scholarship in Theatre
Requirements: Must be enrolled in theatre classes with a minimum 3.2 GPA. Must be taking theatre classes to apply and will continue to take Theatre classes while receiving scholarship. Preference given to theatre or integrated studies majors and minors.
Raymond and Beth Winkler Price
Requirements: Awarded to a student athlete and a cultural arts student on alternating years.
William G. Hughes & Barbara Morrell-Hughes Scholarship in Arts & Humanities
Requirements: Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities student with minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference given to single parents or those who qualify for financial aid.
Edna Ione Hall Scholarship
Requirements: Must be majoring, minoring or taking classes in the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities. Preference to international, out-of-state, minority or students with financial need.
Tom and Nancy Davidson College of Arts and Humanities Scholarship
Requirements: Full-time student in the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities with a minimum 2.5. GPA who demonstrates financial need.
Matthew S. Browning Scholarship for Nontraditional Students
Requirements: Full or part-time student with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference given to students demonstrating financial need or students with children.
Edith Gidney Briem Memorial Scholarship
Requirements: Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities students with demonstrated academic excellence.
Marilyn B. and LuJean W. Blakeley Endowment
Requirements: Declared major or minor in performing arts or foreign languages with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
