Why Weber State?
I chose Weber state because it is one of the cheaper options. It seems that any normal college is good enough for a job in the computer science field.
Why Bachelor of Science, Computer Science?
I wanted a job where I am never bored with a good challenge. From my experience so far, I am always confused and busy. I like that!
Advice?
Reach out to everyone you can for advice and help getting the job you want early on! Teachers, career counselors, people at work, even your friends. Networking is everything! Also, I like to remind myself that the school/work grind is temporary. It brings in some motivation after spending all weekend catching up on lectures.
Where are you now?
After getting some advice from one of my teachers and Kim Ealy, I found a friend who is a Senior Systems Engineer. He had a Lead Software Developer to check out my resume. Shortly after that, I landed an interview with him and became a QA Tester last November. Since then, I have worked hard and shown that I am willing to put in the time and effort to learn more and do a good job. In February, I took the opportunity to apply for a Junior Systems Engineer role and I got the job. With the job, I am asked to take courses for certifications alongside work and school. I may not have much of a life outside of work and school, but I love what I do, and I will stick with it! If it were not for networking, I would not have found the job I am working at now.
