Bachelor of Science in Interior Design

The practice of interior design has become complex, technical and demanding. 
Our Bachelor of Science program provides you with the technical design and sales skills necessary to compete in the profession.

Drafting and technical skills

You will participate in community service projects, interdisciplinary design charrettes and attend field trips. You will also participate locally in professional organizations such as ASID (American Society of Interior Designers), IIDA (International Interior Designer Association) and NKBA (National Kitchen & Bath Association).

 

Degree Information

Our 4-year interior design degree provides you with academic preparation for employment in the design-build industry. 

Transfer students and students coming into the program with an AAS, AA or AS will take at least 6 semesters to complete the program.

Grade Requirements: 
A grade of “B” or better in courses required for this major (“B-” is not acceptable) in addition to an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Credit Hour Requirements:
 A total of 120 hours is required for this program for graduation.

Accreditation: 
Our Bachelor of Science in Interior Design is accredited by CIDA (Council for Interior Design Accreditation).

 


Employment Opportunities
 

As a graduate of this program, you will meet guidelines for the practice of residential and commercial interior design
and be academically prepared to sit for professional exams such as the NCIDQ, CKD (Certified Kitchen Design). LEED and others,  gain membership in professional
organizations and become licensed.

 After 2 years of experience in the field, you will be able to sit for the
NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) exam.

Upon successful completion of the exam, designers can apply for licensure.

 

Advising
 

As an Interior Design student, you are required to meet with your faculty advisor each semester for course and program advisement. 
Appointments can be scheduled by phone or email.
