BECOME A CERTIFIED 
ATHLETIC TRAINER (AT)

The Department of Athletic Training 


Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled healthcare professionals who render service or treatment, under the direction of or in collaboration with a physician (in accordance with their education, training, and the state's statutes, rules, and regulations).

As a part of the healthcare team, services provided by athletic trainers include primary care, injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, examination, and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.

LEARN


Students learn skills in Emergency Care, Orthopedic Assessment, Therapeutic Modalities and Rehabilitation, Manual Therapy, Casting, Psychology of Injuries, and Suturing. 

Students can pursue a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Integrated Studies, or continue on to pursue our Master of Science in Athletic Training.

High school students who want to become an AT should pursue a BS in Rehabilitation Sciences. 

ACHIEVE

As a BS graduate, you can apply to grad school to become an Athletic Trainer. 

Our Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program is a 2-year (5-semester) format to get you into the field of Athletic Training and gives students the opportunity to work in a variety of patient-care settings including high schools, universities, clinics, and professional sports.

    If you are in high school now and want to become an athletic trainer, you will need to get a bachelor's degree first. Check out our Bachelor of Science degree in Rehabilitation Science.
