91¶ÌÊÓƵ Online administers the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), and provides level 2 (L2) support. 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Online maintains the feed from Banner to Canvas that creates courses, assigns faculty roles, and enrolls students. Grades are sent back to Banner using the ‘Input Final Grades’ feature. If you are having issues with Banner and Canvas not matching, please contact us at LMSadmin@weber.edu.

Your Canvas courses will be available the day before the official start of the semester, provided that the course is already published. For more information click here.

Display names are pulled directly from our Student Information System (Banner), which is managed by the Registrar's office. For name changes, review this info page and please reach out to the Registrar.

The Canvas grade book is only accurate if the entered scores are complete and current. If your professor has not yet entered grades for your completed or missing assignments, exams, or any other course requirements, Canvas will not apply these scores to your overall grade. You can see a more accurate estimate of your current grade by using the . Please contact your professor if you have questions about your grades.

The instructional designers at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Online are learning experts that can help faculty understand how to best accomplish the goals and objectives of their courses. They are especially aware of the capabilities of Canvas and have knowledge of other 91¶ÌÊÓƵ approved tools.

All academic (CRN-based) courses are given a space in Canvas to deliver course materials in an online format. If you don’t see your course in Canvas, check your Faculty Dashboard in the eWeber portal to make sure you were assigned as the instructor.

Contact your college admin assistant or department admin specialist to be added as an instructor to a course in Banner.

Contact LMSadmin@weber.edu if you are assigned as the instructor in Banner, but don’t see the course in Canvas.

Review the Schedule Deadlines for the Registrar’s scheduling dates and deadlines. Canvas courses only start populating after the deadline for departments to finalize their schedules:

• For Summer Semester - Mid March
• For Fall Semester - Mid April
• For Spring Semester - Mid October

By default, your Canvas course will be available to students the day before the official start of the semester, provided that the course is already Published. e.g. If the course is scheduled to start on January 11th, the Canvas course start date will be set as January 10th.

The two primary roles in Canvas are Teacher and Student, which are assigned automatically during course enrollment. In addition to these, Canvas offers a variety of roles with different access levels. We've also created custom roles to better fit specific needs. Auditing, with Instructor permission, allows students to attend a class without earning a grade or credit, without affecting their GPA. The student should complete and submit the Audit Form, available at /Registration/Audit.html to registration@weber.edu.

Canvas receives updates automatically from Banner. When the Registrar approves the audit status in Banner, the student will be enrolled in the Canvas course. Class Status can be changed until the audit deadline. If the student does not appear in the People tab in your course, please reach out to 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Online Support.

Please speak with the Registrar’s office for altering course dates outside of the official Term dates.

Access the unpublished course you would like to publish in Canvas.
In the course sidebar, click the Publish button at the top right of the Home page.

If you can see content but your students cannot, it is generally because something is not published. Look to the right of the page/assignment/quiz/etc. And make sure the red or grey unpublished icon ðŸš« is replaced with a green check mark ✅.

You can suggest an idea to Instructure, the company that creates Canvas, via this . Note that many feature requests require community backing, or they may not be considered.

Fill out this with as much information as possible. If the tool has never been used it must be vetted by various stakeholders across campus to ensure data security, accessibility, FERPA compliance etc.

For NEW integrations, deadlines for each semester are ~6 weeks before the start of the semester.

If the requested integration is listed in the "App" tab in Canvas, has been used in previous courses, or has already been partially vetted, your request may be fast-tracked. Please have these requests submitted no later than 2 weeks from the start of the semester you wish to use the app for.

Any requests received after either of these deadlines are not guaranteed to be integrated before the start of the semester you are requesting them for.
